Punk is good, although I wouldn't call myself a "fan". I like Miniutemen, Subhumans (as in the "Fuck You" band, not the Canadian band), Leftover Crack, Angry Samoans, and a few others but I'm not in deep. Folk metal is the absolute best, I'm listening to Skyclad as I type this

Is anyone here into something that's not punk or metal?... Like Folk, psychedelia?

There are really good anarchist protest folk artists. Like Phil Ochs (A social democrat, but lenient to anarchist ideas), Woody Guthrie, etc.

Also, on the note of folk metal, just started listening to Cruachan and their fucking amazing.

Is anyone here into something that's not punk or metal?... Like Folk, psychedelia? I Like both. Love tons of punk, the misfits, subhumans, discharge, DRI, Dead Kennedys, Weirdos, Black flag, Minor threat, Fear, TSOL, Redd Kross, Negative approach, Adolescents, Suicidal tendancies, MDC, Sex pistols, Agent orange (that's all I can name off the top of my head I have hundreds on my phone) Used to be way more into metal but now Ill just listen to the occasional Slayer or Deicide, But I still love psychedelic stuff. I never actively look for it though, just listen to it when I'm trippin balls.

I like a lot of folk, punk, metal, and other related genres. I'm not sure how much of what I listen to really qualifies as folk punk per se, but some definitely does, and a good bit overlaps.
Obviously someone like the Dead Milkmen is classic folk punk. I also love the Gypsy (folk) punk band Gogol Bordello. They're interesting; most of the members were a family, they fled the Soviet Union, and their singer looks like Borat. Haha. Excellent instrumentation, lyrics, musicality... They're great. I like some anti-folk, like Jeffrey Lewis, which definitely has a punk mentality, even if the musical influence of punk is limited. His no-fucks-given style of singing and his irreverent but sometimes-powerful lyrics remind me a lot of folk punk.
If anybody wants to check them out, my recommendations:
- Gogol Bordello - Super Theory of Supereverything, Super Taranta!, Underdog World Strike, Alcohol, Illumination, and Santa Marinella
- Dead Milkmen - Punk Rock Girl (that song is fucking awesome), Bitchin' Camero, Stuart
- Jeffrey Lewis - Williamsburg Will Oldham Horror, Life, Back When I Was 4
All great stuff.

My highest recommendation for political music has to be Pink Floyd's The Wall. A lot of anarchist allegory in the lyrics, as well as the concert and film. (The concert features a 39-foot Styrofoam wall on which propaganda is projected.) The Wall is not just an album, it is a dynasty of art. There is so much knowledge that can be taken from its music.

Animals doe Yeah that too. It was based on Animal Farm too. In my opinion, it does kind of a shitty job making the same points as Orwell's masterpiece, but the music is really great. I'm working on a cover of the album right now.

My dad showed me that movie when I was WAY too young. For years, I could picture all this bizarre, disturbing imagery in my head, but I had no idea where it came from. In middle-school I got into 60s and 70s psychedelic music, and I watched The Wall, what I thought was for the first time. As soon as it came on, I was like "OH MY GOD, THAT'S WHERE THOSE IMAGES CAME FROM." Haha. I prefer Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Piper at The Gates of Dawn, mainly because I have to be in a very particular mood for such a theatrical concept album as The Wall, and my tastes have changed a lot since my psychedelic phase, but it's still a classic.

Is anyone here into something that's not punk or metal?... Like Folk, psychedelia? I like listening to indie-rock music and a lot of other subgenres of rock, along with occasional nostalgia of traditional music
