What are your opinions/views on Trotsky? Clearly I'm no Trotskyist, but I do like him. He was easily the least insane of the Bolsheviks and he was pro-democracy.

What are your opinions/views on Trotsky? That's complicated. He was likely the least authoritarian of the major Bolshevik leaders (which really isn't saying much). But he also did go after the Makhnovists and any other anarchists.

well, (yes, I'm evidently a trotskyst), he probably did the same Lenin's errors on the one party sistem, but with him ussr would have been a more human state and surely more communist on the international politics, maybe 2WW wouldn't started that way and, who knows, world could be a more socialist place. Anyway, he's been demonized a lot from both east and west: only in 1988 in soviet union he's been revaluteted and, despite Gorbachiov's opinions and reforms, people were entusiast of the works made about him for the occasion. I don't agree on what he (or better, they) did to anarchists, but I consider it has been a post-revolution wrong consideration

My first 'foray' into leftism so to speak was Trotskyism. I read Marx and I kinda said to my self, then what? And I think Trotsky had a big impact on my views on leftism. Kinda why I advocate a more Moderate, and Council Based form of Democratic Government. A limited state rather than 'TOTAL ANARCHY!!!' is more of my jam and from Trotsky's writings I almost felt that same limiting vibe from him, though it may not have been there. If he'd have taken power I assume the world would be a better place. So, over all nothing against Trots. I take some ideas from them and some from elsewhere. He's pretty solid as far as Authoritarian Left sector ideas go.
